28 February 2016, KidZania Kuala Lumpur 4th Year Anniversary

The year 2016 marked the 4th year of the establishment of KidZania Kuala Lumpur, a family edutainment centre which offers an interactive learning and entertainment experience for kids in a kid-sized city. HOPE worldwide Malaysia, alongside with 3 more charity organizations were very honored to be invited to be a part of celebration.

What can be a greater celebration by seeing the kids from HOPE worldwide Malaysia and 3 charity organizations to enjoyed their best moments in lives, learning in various sectors, open up their minds and perspectives, toward their dream jobs in the future?

We would like to thank KidZania Kuala Lumpur's management team for your thoughtful arrangement. To see the kids having fun while learning and gained so much precious experiences, was truly an inspiration. As these kids might not always have chances like this, that this day could be a day to inspire them, who they wish to be in the future, and they will start to work hard to reach their goals.

The day ended with a lunch treat by KidZania Kuala Lumpur. The kids have had a great time here in KidZania! Once again, Thank You KidZania!

Invitation to Workshop - “Understanding Our Need for Connection and Acceptance”

Dear Friends of HOPE,

Mark your calendar for the month of March as you are invited to a very beneficial workshop with the details below:

Date: 19 March 2016 (Saturday)
Time: 2pm to 7pm
Location: Sunflower Hall, Level 4, Global Business Convention Centre
Address:  Jalan 19/1, Seksyen 19, 46300 Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

Research has shown the quality and reliability of the relationship between parent and child play an influential role in the well being of young children, shaping their core beliefs and how they see themselves and others. The “Good Enough Parenting model” helps parents understand that their children will internalize healthy messages from them to the extent they meet their children’s Core Emotional Need for Connection and Acceptance and that if this need is not met adequately, children will be at risk of developing unhealthy persistent negative thinking patterns (lifetraps), such as:
  • I can’t trust others
  • People always have an agenda
  • I’m inherently flawed
  • No one who knows me can truly love me
  • I do not receive enough love
  • I am not comfortable expressing my emotions
  • I just don’t fit in
  • Compared to my peers, I’m a failure.

With the aid of cartoons and movie scenes, parents/participants will learn to identify roadblocks to Connection and Acceptance. Indeed, all adults will find this workshop useful, as it will provide insights into their own early childhood environments and the core beliefs and lifetraps they may have developed, particularly those linked to their present dysfunctional behaviour. In addition, this workshop will offer participants practical solutions for overcoming unhealthy negative beliefs and their accompanying dysfunctional behaviours interfering with participants’ most important relationships.

Admission requirements:

  1. Participants are to be 18 and above, able to read and write in English, to spend 1.5 to 2 hours filling out a set of questionnaires. The anonymous data gathered will be used for research purposes, to promote healthy parenting, and for scientific publications. There is no charge for all participants who agree to fill out the questionnaires.
  2. No registration fees is required for the workshop. For participants wishing to attend the workshop but to not fill out the questionnaire have to pay an entrance fees of RM30 per person as a donation to Persatuan Kebajikan HOPE worldwide Kuala Lumpur.

The Spirit of Chinese New Year with the Sentul Community

14 February 2016, Chinese New Year Goodies Distribution by Mr. SY Lai and Friends at Sentul Free Clinic of HOPE

The first Chinese New Year goodies distribution was initiated by Mr. SY Lai's father. It was about 5 years ago. Since then, Mr. SY Lai and his friends has made this as a Chinese New Year routine, every year without fail, giving ang pao, groceries, candies and mandarin oranges to 150 Sentul low income families.

Mr. SY Lai and friends have taught us the true spirit of Chinese New Year. To give and blessed than to receive. Mr. Lai and his friends take this opportunity to give and to serve the needy ones.

This year, the distribution day falls on the 7th Day of Chinese New Year, which is also the Valentine's Day. It makes the day even more meaningful and memorable. Because Valentine's Day reminds us about love for one another. Indeed we have so much love to give and share with those who are less fortunate than us.

It was a hot Sunday afternoon as we have 150 families gathered at the Sentul Free Clinic of HOPE, to received the Ang Pao and Groceries from Mr. Lai and his friends.

Some of the families who were the recipients since the first day Mr. Lai's father initiated the CNY Goodies Distribution, and they were very grateful to able to share the joy and happiness of this festive season. Among the beneficiaries, are some senior citizens who stayed by themselves, and this gesture of love by Mr. Lai and his friends meant a lot to them.

Thank you Mr. Lai and your friends who are always here for us and for our community in Sentul! We wish you all to have a fruitful year ahead.
