Starbucks Marks its 17th Anniversary with a Spirit of VOLUNTEERISM!

12 December 2015, Starbucks Malaysia 17th Anniversary Party at Bangsar Village II

ALL IN THE SPIRIT OF VOLUNTEERISM!

December this year is a month of celebration, as we had just celebrated our 15th Anniversary, last Saturday, HOPE worldwide Malaysia, together with other NGOs were invited to be a part of Starbucks Malaysia 17th Anniversary. To make this celebration a memorable one, Starbucks invited their loyal customer to be the VOLUNTEERS of the Day, as part of the Crew Team for this event at Bangsar Village II. Hats off to Starbucks Malaysia making the extra efforts, reaching out to their loyal customers, inviting them to be the event's Volunteer Crew via social media platform! Starbucks has indeed bring the Spirit of Volunteerism higher by building closer and deeper friendships with their customers.

While from HOPE worldwide Malaysia, we assembled total 30 volunteers, age from as young as 7 years old, to form a Caroling Team, to dedicate carols for Starbucks and all of the customers on that day, wishing everyone Merry Christmas in Advance!

It is like a Christmas Tradition we have with Starbucks, and was indeed inspiring to see all 30 volunteers singing carols so cheerfully and loudy together, which among them were there to sing carols for Starbucks since the very first time in 2004. And some of them right now were married with kids, they too brought along their kids, as the new carolers! The Spirit of Volunteerism passed on to the next generations.

From on stage to off stage, besides the Carolers, we have our volunteer to dress up as Santa Claus to cheer up the chidlren and the crowd!

During the event, Kids and Youths from HOPE worldwide Malaysia together with the children from Rumah Charis and other Homes were invited to the Party! The Volunteers from Starbucks were there conducting games and several activities like Face Painting for the kids.

Starbucks Malaysia, thank you so much for being a very loyal and faithful friend to us! Once again, Happy 17th Anniversary to you!

Starbucks Milestone with Kg Lubok Jaya's Community Development Project

31 October 2015, Starbucks Kg Lubok Jaya Computer Centre Graduation Ceremony 2014 to 2015

Thanks to Starbucks' CSR initiative that made a difference in the communities' lives of Kg. Lubok Jaya. We began with empowering the kids with basic computer knowledge and Microsoft skills, and right now, we had also empowered another 20 adults learner!

Kudos to all fellow volunteers and also the committed facilitators, one of them is the local trainer, Darwish, 19, who is also the village head's son, he realizes the objective of the program: Train the Trainer, for sustainability.

Right now, in total, we had 40 children and 20 adults graduated from the program.

During the graduation day, we had the adults to browse through Cooking Lessons through YouTube Channels, and as well, they too can create their own recipes of their delicacies.

The CSR Initiatives started by Starbucks buying the harvest of the banana plantation, and generated F&B products for sales. Part of the proceeds were raised for building a community computer centre in Kg. Lubok Jaya. The social impact started to grow since then, and we believe will continue to grow.

Starbucks Connecting Communities in Malaysia - Kg Lubok Jaya Community Computer Centre 1st Anniversary

18 April 2015, Starbucks Malaysia Kg. Lubok Jaya Community Computer Centre 1st Anniversary

From a Banana Plantation, Starbucks created a Community Project by bringing IT Facilities and Knowledge to the community in Kg. Lubok Jaya. And right now, we harvest not only the crop from the banana plantation, but the social impact, the inspiration, and also a group of students who have potential to become authors in the future.

In conjunction with one year anniversary of  Starbucks Kg. Lubok Jaya Community Computer Centre, as a working partner for this project, HOPE worldwide Malaysia is very honored to be invited to be a part of this event!

One of the main objectives for this community project, Starbucks wishes to bring the best of the students, as to raise them to become future authors. Hence part of the syllabus of the computer training that facilitated by HOPE worldwide Malaysia is to train the students in their typing skills. Through typing, the students get to type their imagination and their stories. During the event, one of the students read out her story to everybody, on how she feels after being trained in the computer centre, and the heartfelt sharing indeed moved many of the audiences in tears.

After one year, indeed we look forward to provide our support to make this community project a sustainable one for the community and the next generations, to bridge them to a brighter future.

Thanks to each and everyone of you who used to purchase Banana Frappucinos and products at Starbucks outlet, eventually the funds we collected, we built a community computer centre that benefited the community in Kg. Lubok Jaya.
