MY Reading Program Graduation Ceremony with SAP & DHL 2017

Thanks to the continuous support by SAP Malaysia & DHL that have made a tremendous impact in the lives of these 60 children and youths who have attended the MY Reading Program this year.

Hence we have a Graduation Ceremony to celebrate the progress these children and youths have made in completing the Blossom Literacy Program syllabus which was first introduced by DHL GoTeach Volunteers since July 2015.

For the first time, thanks to DHL, we have our children and youths wearing the MY Reading Program T-Shirt as one of their Graduation Gifts.

The Red Series Learners consists of beginner learners aged 6 to 9 years old. 

The Red Series Learners consists of intermediate learners aged 10 to 12 years old. 

The Advance Learners are youths aged 13 and above. This is the group where they were trained in critical thinking, speech and presentation skills.   

We look forward to work with DHL in the coming 2018, to continue to train these children and youths with the knowledge of the language, with the hope to bridge them to a brighter future.

Special Thanks to our BLP Coach Ms. Andal who empowered the volunteers and also training the youths in Advance Class together with our faithful volunteers Ms. Kaldip and Zatil.

Mothers became Chefs through E-Learning Program sponsored by SAP Malaysia

This School Holidays, we have got our mothers occupied too! Besides having E-Learning Program with the youths, we also conducted a 2-week E-Learning Program for the mothers.

This E-Learning program mainly is to teach the mothers on knowing how to obtain knowledge from the Internet. So we tap on something that these mothers commonly passionate about, that's cooking!

Firstly, we teach the mother on how to browse the cooking recipes and videos from YouTube Channels. From there, the mothers were inspired to think and write their own recipes.

By the end of the learning session, the mothers get to cook their own recipes! Thanks to Malaysian Institute of Baking who provided us the venue for our mothers to cook their recipes.

Thanks to SAP Malaysia for enabling us to make our first step to instill Digital Literacy into these mothers' lives though the E-Learning program.

SAP Malaysia School Holidays E-Learning Program for 40 Youths

16 youths are going to experience a life changing school holidays this year! Our volunteers Yogen, Aaron and Yannis are conducting a 6-Day IT Camp in 2 weeks to empower these youths with ICT Knowledge through learning of Project Management, Basic Programming and Web Development.

Thanks to SAP Malaysia for sponsoring the laptops for us to kick start these eLearning Program for these youths, for them to experience the excitement in gaining powerful knowledge in ICT field which could bridge them to a more promising future in the coming years.

Thanks to SAP Malaysia for sponsoring 100 students in School Sponsorship Program this year.

It is indeed a yearly occassion where these students and parents looking forward as after all the hardwork in school, we now take a break, and it's time to go for shopping, anticipating a new semester in 2017.

We want to thank SAP Malaysia and all the fellow volunteers who are here volunteering themselves, among them were faithful volunteers since the 1st School Sponsorship Program we had with SAP Malaysia.

MY Reading Program Graduation Ceremony for children in year 2016 was held last Saturday. We had more than 100 people including the parents of the children came and attended the graduation ceremony. To grace the event, we had a group of students to make an opening performance by citing a poem to the rest of the children and parents. It was a proud  moment for these students, as all of them have been attending the Reading Program at least 5 years and above.

Thanks to SAP Malaysia as the main corporate sponsor that impacted 60 children to have the opportunity to learn English through Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing.

The program which was established since 2008, aim to provide a cozy environment, bridging volunteers to inspire the children to have nterest to learn English through creative and fun activities such as singing of nursery rhymes, story telling and one-to-one reading mentoring.

Among the group of children, we have Rafiq and Siti who were our students in the MY Reading Program since 4 years ago. And they are leaving us as they will be relocated in United States soon. It was a heartwarming session as we bid farewell to them in the graduation ceremony, and this marked a new beginning for their future.

Thanks SAP Malaysia for playing an important part in this journey, as through Education, we bring HOPE to these children's LIVES.

SAP Malaysia Volunteers in Food Distribution Program

20 Auguast 2016, Food Distribution Program with SAP Malaysia at Sentul Free Clinic of HOPE

A team of 16 volunteers which includes 4 children from SAP Malaysia contributed their time and energy in reaching out to 10 beneficial families in Sentul Free Clinic of HOPE in the Food Distribution Program. Besides volunteering in the Food Distribution Program, we wanna thank Ms. Shirly Wong who initiate a fundraising campaign among the colleagues that supplied the grocery needs of 100 families for the month of August.

Kudos to all fellow volunteers for sharing with us an inspiring and fulfilling weekend. Once again, thanks SAP Malaysia for being an awesome CSR Partner!

SAP School Sponsorship Program Brings Joy to Kids and Youths

Taking 90 children from poor families shopping — that was how the staff of a multinational software corporation spent their weekend.

Their intention was to ensure that the children had everything they had to be ready for school next year. There was joy and hopefulness on the faces of the children as the 14 SAP Malaysia employees accompanied them to shop for school uniforms, bags and stationery at Mydin in USJ Subang Jaya last Saturday. The SAP workers were joined by their family members and 35 staff from its partner company, NTT Data.

They also taught the children how to work within a budget, important tools they will need later in life. Fully-funded by SAP Malaysia, a total of RM 36,000 was allocated for the programme.

SAP Malaysia managing director Terrence Yong said the company had long placed importance on education, especially of poor children. “Through education we can help the country and people on so many levels. “We want to help narrow the gap that exists between the private sector and charitable organisations such as Hope Worldwide Malaysia,” said Yong.

The families of the children were recipients of welfare aid from Hope, a charitable organisation with extensive knowledge of Sentul and the needs of the poor there.
Hope has been running a free clinic there, giving free treatment and medicines to children from underprivileged families since 2000.

“It is gratifying that these needy children have the support of  the community through caring companies such as SAP Malaysia and Mydin,” said Hope worldwide (Malaysia) executive director Katy Lee.

Mydin co-sponsored the corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative by offering the distributor price for the purchases and sponsoring food for the kids and their parents.

“Money can be raised, even if sometimes with difficulty, but the time they spend with the children today is priceless.”

She added that it had always been important to convince the parents of the need for their children to remain in school.

“It took time for them to understand that with education, their children could have better lives,” Lee said.

For more than 10 years, volunteers have taught and read to children from slums in Sentul, thanks to a reading programme started by Hope.

SAP Malaysia CSR Filming at 1 Stop IT Resource Centre

24 October 2015, SAP Malaysia CSR Filming Day at 1 Stop IT Resource Centre

SAP Malaysia CSR Filming Day took place at HOPE worldwide Malaysia 1 Stop IT Reource Centre with 7 students from our beneficial families and 7 volunteers from HELP Universities as the mentors for the students, in completing online research project by using Microsoft Power Point.

SAP Malaysia has been supporting the 1 Stop IT Resource Centre since the program was established in 2013, in both HOPE worldwide Kuala Lumpur and Penang. More than 300 students were benefited from this program. In Kuala Lumpur, we have been conducting classes in teaching Microsoft Office - Word, Power Point and Excel and also Windows Movie Maker, and as of 2014, total 196 students were graduated from these classes.

On that day, the students were given 2 titles to choose:
(1) Tell us about your favorite country and why do you wish to travel there?
(2) Talk about Endangered Animals and how do you protect them? 

Besides the 6 students whose age range are from 10 to 12 years old, we also have one adult learner, her name is Madam Jeya, who is a single mother, which she followed both of her sons, Maatheeswaran (14 years old) and Dinheshwaran (16 years old) to the centre, in hope to learn some computer skills, in order to have more employment opportunities. Both Maatheeswaran and Dineshwaran also our students in our education programs since they were very young. Dineshwaran is now empowered to be one of the volunteers to assist our main facilitator to facilitate the class for the SAP Malaysia CSR Filming Day.

Madam Jeya is a single mother who raised up three children - Yogavarthine (eldest daughter), Dineshwaran and Maatheeswaran all by herself. Through life is challenging for here, but her self-motivated spirit by not stopping herself to learn new things is very inspiring.

Mentored by the volunteers from HELP University, each student was given 1 hour to do online research for the title they chose. Both volunteer and student together look for information and photos for their topic.

While the students and volunteers were working on their projects, the production team kicks start with their documentation by interviewing the Managing Director of SAP Malaysia, Mr. Terrence Yong and the Program Manager of HOPE worldwide Malaysia, Mr. Caesar Teh. After the interview session, the team also documented the students and volunteers inside the 1 Stop IT Resource Centre. 

After the students are done with their presentation, the student together with their mentor, present their works through showing their presentation on the projection screen. 

Thanks to SAP Malaysia and the production team, who had made this session so special and uplifting for the students. We look forward to empower more individuals through the 1 Stop IT Resource Centre especially open up more learning opportunities for adults like Madam Jeya.

HOPE Kids Kicks Start the School with SAP

Thanks to SAP Malaysia for your sponsorship on the reference books which consisted of 4 main subjects for all school students - Bahasa Melayu, English, Mathematics & Science. Not only that, SAP staff even personally purchase a stationery box set with an encouragement notes written in it for each and every student aged from 7 to 13 years old. SAP Malaysia's sponsorship had indeed impacted more than 80 underprivileged students!
