09 April 2018, KFC Sharing Moments & Orang Asli Outreach Program at Kampung Desa Ria, Lenggong, Gerik.
As we carry on our "Sharing Moments" Journey with KFC & Add Hope Malaysia in year 2018, we have made many great friendships along the way, which include our faithful companion who is the medical team in bringing the free medication and checkups for the Orang Asli community, the Malaysian Pharmaceutical Society (MPS Young Pharmacist - Penang Chapter), and Ms. Thoo Sook Lin with her team, who have been helping us in the welfare of the Orang Asli families and arranging the logistics to send the groceries for these 200 families. Last but not least, the KFC Staff at Gerik Branch who tirelessly preparing the 200 sets of KFC Meals, in making sure its freshness, they often work overtime, preparing the meals during midnight. Their hearts of gold are simply inspiring!
Besides the villagers at Kampung Desa Ria, we also have villagers from nearby and afar villages such as, Kg. Desa Permai, Pengkalan Permai, Ciong, Chuweh, Tebang Lama & Baru. The needs of the community here are still crucial, especially in awareness of health & hygiene and as well children Education.
We are just so grateful to have all these unsung heroes to sail with us in this journey, meeting the needs of almost every aspect of these rural community's lives, to sustain our Sharing Moments Food Aid Program and the Orang Asli Outreach Program for the many villages throughout all these years. Moving on, we are indeed looking for sponsors and corporate partners in building more facilities and shelters for the Orang Asli Community at Kg. Desa Ria, so we could deliver our Medical Services and other welfare works more effectively in the future.

The Story of 20 Youth Volunteers and their 4-Day Adventure
23 to 26 September 2015, HOPE Volunteer Corps at Ipoh, Gerik, Penang & Kuala Lumpur
The first HOPE Volunteer Corps (HVC) happened in Malaysia with a total of 20 youth & campus volunteers, spent 4 days, traveled a total 826.2 kilometers to 3 cities, a 4-hour boat ride to 2 Orang Asli settlements. It was a memorable adventure, with fulfilling and inspiring communities outreach experiences to both urban poor and rural societies.
The HVC started its journey on 23 September to the beautiful heritage city - Ipoh. There we reached out to the orphans in "Anning Home" where we organized English Reading Program for the children and Boardgames Session for the teenagers.
On 24 September, we set our journey to the further north - Public Jetty of Pulau Banding, where we set our sail in a houseboat, carrying groceries and KFC Meals which are sponsored by KFC & Pizza Hut Malaysia, together with the volunteers from Motorola Solutions (M) Sdn Bhd and a group of medical students, we reached out to two Orang Asli Settlements. Beside giving Free Medication and Groceries to the Orang Asli Community, we also set up solar lights among the settlement area which the lights will absorb the solar heat at day, while the light functions at night to light up the path for the community.
On Day 3, 25 September, we are at another Heritage City - Penang, the home of our HOPE worldwide Free Pediatric Clinic. There the volunteers made a Spring Cleaning to both the Clinic and the Centre of HOPE worldwide Penang. Right after that, led by our professional facilitators, we had a fruitful self-discovery session with a group youths, and as well an awareness workshop about "How to stop bullying at school by being a Buddy instead a Bully" which are so frequently happened among the youth students at school.
The final day, 26 September, we set our journey home - Kuala Lumpur. There the volunteers organized home visit to 15 beneficial families to conduct interviews to know more about the needs and situation of the urban poor families.
During the closing ceremony, each of the volunteer shared about the precious experiences they had gained throughout the 4-day journey, the deepest thoughts that stirred their hearts and mind when they were there, reaching out to the poor and needy. Everyone gets a Certificate as an acknowledgment of their endeavors in the HVC!
Thank you to ALL FELLOW VOLUNTEERS! And we hope to have you guys and even more youths and campus students to be on board with us for the coming HVCs.
