SAP Malaysia MY Reading Program Graduation Ceremony 2016
26 November 2016, SAP Malaysia MY Reading Program Graduation Ceremony 2016
MY Reading Program Graduation Ceremony for children in year 2016 was held last Saturday. We had more than 100 people including the parents of the children came and attended the graduation ceremony. To grace the event, we had a group of students to make an opening performance by citing a poem to the rest of the children and parents. It was a proud moment for these students, as all of them have been attending the Reading Program at least 5 years and above.
Thanks to SAP Malaysia as the main corporate sponsor that impacted 60 children to have the opportunity to learn English through Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing.
The program which was established since 2008, aim to provide a cozy environment, bridging volunteers to inspire the children to have nterest to learn English through creative and fun activities such as singing of nursery rhymes, story telling and one-to-one reading mentoring.
Among the group of children, we have Rafiq and Siti who were our students in the MY Reading Program since 4 years ago. And they are leaving us as they will be relocated in United States soon. It was a heartwarming session as we bid farewell to them in the graduation ceremony, and this marked a new beginning for their future.
Thanks SAP Malaysia for playing an important part in this journey, as through Education, we bring HOPE to these children's LIVES.

Young Parents Spread their Love for Sentul Kids on Long Weekends
01 October 2016, Young Parents volunteered in MY Reading and Creative Art Program
A parent's love is unconditional and knows no end for their kids. And we are particularly inspired by this group for parents who as well dedicated their love to our children in Reading and Creative Program by dedicating their precious time during the long weekend teaching and nurturing the children.
Volunteerism begins from young. This young parents who have kids not older than 5 year-old, bring along their children to volunteer in the MY Reading and Creative Art Program. They showed us all we need is a compassion heart, you can work things out to make a difference in other people's lives. The time of these young parents could be very extremely packed, as they need to work to earn a living and at the same time, to nurture and spend time with their children, physically could be exhausted, but by seeing them serving and teaching joyfully is a great inspiration.
Alongside with Volunteers from DHL's Go Teach Initiatives and KPMG, we have had a great day learning and teaching with the kids in MY Reading and Creative Art Program!
And we want to express our gratitude for the generosity of our DHL Go Teach Volunteer, Ms. Ooi who bought McDonald's Happy Meals for all of our kids before we call it a day!
Thanks to all fellow Volunteers who have made a difference in these kids lives!

Mizuho Volunteer Day with 80 volunteers
17 October 2015 Mizuho Bank's "Mizuho Volunteer Day" (MVD 2015)
Total 80 volunteers which is probably the largest group of volunteers HOPE worldwide Malaysia had thus far, participating in 4 community programs - Food Distribution Program, MY Reading Program, Creative Art Program and visiting to the beneficial families' houses.
The Home Visit Program was the highlight of the day as we we had 43 volunteers (out of 80 volunteers) signed up, visited 24 families within 2 hours. The volunteers were all guided by 8 facilitators to visit the families i different housing areas. During the home visit, the volunteers from Mizuho Bank were warmly greeted and welcomed by the families. Each family had their life story to tell which left so much inspiration and impact toward the volunteers. We brought KFC Combo meal and groceries to each family.
We had the second group of volunteers who worked at the Sentul Free Clinic for the Food Distribution Program, which reached out to estimate 80 families, who were here to collect the groceries. Thanks to all fellow volunteers who compassionately helping some of the families to carry their groceries to the bus stop to take the public transport home.
We also had a minimal number of volunteers who stayed back at the centre to be Teachers of the Day in the MY Reading Program and Creative Art Program.
By the end of the MVD, we had the volunteers who did the home visit to share their experiences and the inspirations they gained.
It was indeed an inspiring time as we heard so many volunteers shared about how much they feel for the living condition of low income group families. Some of the famlies, though they didn't have a lot, but they offered their hospitality to thank the volunteers who came to help them. One of the families even do not have mattresses that they have to sleep on the floor. The volunteers from Mizuho who visited the family decided to pool their donations together to buy mattresses for this family. There was an elderly woman from one of the families, who kissed a young volunteer's hands as she expressed her gratitude.
We are indeed very grateful and honored to have hosted the Mizuho Volunteer Day (MVD) at HOPE worldwide Malaysia. We look forward to have more working opportunities to create greater social impact in the future!

Sun Life Malaysia Brightens Up the Day of the Children in MY Reading Program
25 July 2015, Sun Life Malaysia Volunteers at MY Reading Program
We had so much fun last Saturday with the fellow volunteers from Sun Life Malaysia. The program began with singing of Sun Life Malaysia's Theme Song - Experience the Sun. The song indeed lighted up the atmosphere of the day, as we continue with our activities, the volunteers from Sun Life Malaysia "Shine On" their smile, joy, cheers, love and encouragement for the kids in MY Reading Program.
Right after the song, we had an Ice Breaking games which helped to create a bondage between the kids and the volunteers. Eventually, the volunteers were all geared up for the Highlight of the Day - the Story Telling time.
The story was about a boy named Sam overcome the power of Dark Shadow with the help from Supersun Superheroes. It is all about having good habits and eating healthily in order to have a healthy lifestyle.
Continuously, the kids learned about healthy diet and one of the groups even learned about good and bad habits.
Thanks to Sun Life Malaysia, the Reading Program ended with a simple feast. The children were so grateful for what they had learned from the volunteers.
And next, we shall look forward for more working opportunities in the future with Sun Life Malaysia.

INTI International College students kick start MY Reading Program 2015
24 January 2015, MY Reading Program with students from INTI International College (KL Campus)
Thanks to the group of volunteers from INTI International College who volunteered in the first session of the first semester for MY Reading Program in 2015.
This year, each student carries a book as the book is going to record down their learning progress like their evaluation scoring, vocabulary tests, spelling and word search puzzle. So, one of the activities of the day was for the children to make their book cover.
Besides, the children were evaluated by pre-assessment to justify their proficiency. And according to their level of proficiency, we can assign the suitable set of books for the children to read in aim to help them to learn progressively. The volunteers were involved in evaluating the kids, and as well teaching them during the assessment.
After that, we had a game which we never play for a long time. Where the kids were divided into two groups and the two groups of kids will send their representative, to compete with each other, who is the fastest one to recognize the picture (by putting the cup on it) right after the facilitator shout out the word.

MY Reading Program: The Graduation Ceremony of Class 2014
13 December 2014 MY Reading Program Class 2014 Graduation Ceremony
Total of 60 children were graduated from MY Reading Program Class 2014! It's been a fruitful journey together with this group of kids, teaching, learning and having creative activities together.
Thanks to our Sponsor HB Fuller and our appreciation to Give2Asia for making this journey happened for students in Class 2014.
To carry on the inspiration the kids gained from the School Holiday Camp to KidZania 2 days ago, we had all the kids to write down their ambitions on a pieces of leaves made by paper. Eventually we had all these leaves to be pasted on the backdrop to make a "Graduation Tree", a tree which carries all the kids' dreams.
Below as the itinerary of the day:
