Orang Asli in Desa Ria Share Groceries and KFC Meals with other needy communities

22 July 2017, KFC Sharing Moments at Kampung Desa Ria, Gerik

You don't need to have plenty to share with others, just a heart full of grace, and you might be the richest person in the world.

This was what we witnessed during our quarterly Orang Asli Outreach recent trip to Kampung Desa Ria, the families who used to receive the groceries and KFC Meals through the KFC Sharing Moments Program sponsored and funded by KFC Add Hope Malaysia, invited another 78 families from their neighboring villages to come and share their groceries.

These 78 families are from Kg. Syah, Sungai Tebang, Sungai Rengat, Sungai Raba, Sungai Chuweh, Sungai Chiong, Semelor, Air Banun and Pengkalan Permai. All these places are located quite far away and it took hours for these families to travel to Desa Ria to collect the groceries and basic necessities sponsored by Add Hope Malaysia.

We would like to thank KFC and Add Hope Malaysia for your generosity and continuous support in helping us to reaching out to more rural communities who are deprived from food and basic necessities.

Our gratitude also goes to MPS Penang who helped us in organizing the medical team to provide medication and health check for the families and children.

Thanks to all faithful volunteers who were there to make this Orang Asli Outreach Program a fruitful and memorable one!

Youth and Campus Volunteers Bring Passion and Joy from Taiwan

19 July 2017, Tian Yi Corporation Volunteerism Day with HOPE worldwide Malaysia

A Group of 13 youth volunteers from 9 different high schools and universities in Taiwan flew all the way to Malaysia, to spend a Day of Volunteerism with us!

We kicked start the day with the inspiring Community & Volunteerism Talk for the volunteers to get motivation and inspiration from the life changing videos of our beneficiaries, and most importantly, to let the fellow volunteers to have a better understanding about the community we are helping, and the social issues we are tackling. We also get to share the community programs our colleagues in HOPE worldwide Taiwan are doing both in Taiwan and Cambodia.

It was a fruitful session as we also exchange a lot of ideas during the Q&A session by the end of the talk. These 13 youths and campus students are also championing their own volunteerism and community projects in their own schools. Some of these youths are as young as 15 years old. We are so privilege to listen and learning from them about innovation and sustainability.

After the talk, we depart to our Sentul Free Clinic of HOPE to begin our spring cleaning activities. We were so grateful for these passionate and energetic bunch of volunteers who gave a new breath and environment for our Free Clinic after the spring cleaning.

In the afternoon, we have 12 kids from our community who came to our centre after their school. The volunteers had lunch together with these kids before we began our Card Coloring Activity. Although the volunteers and kids have language barrier, but what kept them connected was the smile from the volunteers' faces for the kids. Right after the Ice-Breaking Session, we had the kids and volunteers assigned into groups of 2 or 3 persons, as both kids and volunteers are going to make cards for one another. It was encouraging to see some of the kids trying to strike conversation with the volunteers hence our facilitator was there to translate for both kids and volunteers. It was a heartwarming session as both volunteers and kids complete making their cards and present to one another.

Hence it is so true that you don't need to know a lot of knowledge nor languages to connect with different people. You just need a heart full of love and joy. Thanks to the fellow volunteers and staff from Tian Yi Corporation for inspired us with your passion and joy! Keep up your good works in Taiwan to bring greater impact for your nation. Hope to see you all again!

15 July 2017, INTI International College KL volunteers at Food Distribution, Creative Art & Reading Program

It was a heartwarming weekend to have more than 20 volunteers from INTI International College KL last weekend to volunteer in 3 programs - Food Distribution Program, MY Reading Program & Creative Art Program.

We kick start the day with a warm welcome at our centre, then we assign the volunteers to the respective programs.

We want to take this opportunity to thank IKEA Malaysia for sponsoring the IKEA blue carrier bags for the usage of our beneficiaries to carry their groceries and most importantly, the objective is to reduce the usage of plastic bags, to cultivate a sustainable living among our community in Sentul.

Thanks to all fellow volunteers who gave their time and heart in volunteering both programs. We hope to work with you all again in the near future!
