KFC Sharing Moments 2018 kicks start with Orang Asli Community in Kg. Desa Ria

09 April 2018, KFC Sharing Moments & Orang Asli Outreach Program at Kampung Desa Ria, Lenggong, Gerik.

As we carry on our "Sharing Moments" Journey with KFC & Add Hope Malaysia in year 2018, we have made many great friendships along the way, which include our faithful companion who is the medical team in bringing the free medication and checkups for the Orang Asli community, the Malaysian Pharmaceutical Society (MPS Young Pharmacist - Penang Chapter), and Ms. Thoo Sook Lin with her team, who have been helping us in the welfare of the Orang Asli families and arranging the logistics to send the groceries for these 200 families. Last but not least, the KFC Staff at Gerik Branch who tirelessly preparing the 200 sets of KFC Meals, in making sure its freshness, they often work overtime, preparing the meals during midnight. Their hearts of gold are simply inspiring!

Besides the villagers at Kampung Desa Ria, we also have villagers from nearby and afar villages such as, Kg. Desa Permai, Pengkalan Permai, Ciong, Chuweh, Tebang Lama & Baru. The needs of the community here are still crucial, especially in awareness of health & hygiene and as well children Education.

We are just so grateful to have all these unsung heroes to sail with us in this journey, meeting the needs of almost every aspect of these rural community's lives, to sustain our Sharing Moments Food Aid Program and the Orang Asli Outreach Program for the many villages throughout all these years. Moving on, we are indeed looking for sponsors and corporate partners in building more facilities and shelters for the Orang Asli Community at Kg. HOPE worldwide Malaysia is proud to be on board with Vaseline on "The Vaseline Healing Project" which is a Global CSR initiative, partnering with Direct Relief, its Global Mission is to heal the skin of 5 million people by 2020, by providing dermatological care to those affected by adverse living conditions and recovering from emergency situations.

The Vaseline Healing Project, for the first time in Malaysia. Partnering locally with prominent volunteer relief organisation HOPE worldwide Malaysia, the initiative is aimed at helping underprivileged and vulnerable communities who live in poverty, and victims of emergency situations in Malaysia, to regain healthy skin.

“HOPE worldwide Malaysia is very glad to be a partner for The Vaseline Healing Project, an amazing program where we can bring dermatological care to those in need; from the urban poor community to Orang Asli villages, and the underserved community in East Malaysia. This healing of a thousand miles from Vaseline will help bring much required improvements in skin care to many families in need,“ said Darick Wong, Country Director of HOPE worldwide Malaysia.

Since our organization's establishment in 2000, HOPE worldwide Malaysia has been bringing medical aid to urban poor community and as well the Orang Asli community through the Sentul Free Clinic of HOPE & Free Mobile Clinic. Skin infection is one of the common ailing among those who lived in poverty. Lacking of clean water and hygiene condition of the living environment are one of the main causes. It directly affected the community day to day life especially for the children. Skin infection seems not a life-threatening disease but it greatly affected a person's self-confidence and appearance.

The Vaseline Healing Project in Malaysia will support HOPE worldwide Malaysia’s Medical Program, a service for underprivileged and vulnerable communities that not only provides them access to basic healthcare, but also education about sanitation and hygiene. Vaseline is also encouraging its consumers to be a part of this initiative by providing a platform for them to help through the Vaseline Healing Project:

Now is your part to a make a difference: From 1st June – 31st July, 2017, consumers are able to donate to the Vaseline Healing Project in Malaysia by purchasing any Vaseline product. With every purchase of a Vaseline product, RM1.00 will be donated to the Vaseline Healing Project.

Together let us pass the healing all around the globe for the poor and needy.
